Welcome to Indian Hill Fall Soccer for 2005
The Indian Hill Recreation Commission offers Fall Soccer to those who wish to play from August to October with Post-season Tournament for the top several teams in each division that ends in early November. Instructional Teams have boys and girls combined. U-7 through U-14 Teams are separated by gender.

The Age Groups (which are different from those used for Spring, 2005) for both Boys and Girls and their birth dates are shown below:

Level Birth Dates
Instructional Boys and Girls* 8/1/99 through 7/31/00
U-7 8/1/97 through 7/31/99
U-9 8/1/95 through 7/31/97
U-11 8/1/93 through 7/31/95
U-14 8/1/90 through 7/31/93
*Younger players are only accepted if there is room after sign-ups have been completed. Special exception: those who had already played Fall, 2003 or Spring 2004, will be allowed to continue.

Coaches
Coaches are recruited at Sign-ups and are assigned by the Program Coordinators. A Coach may choose an Assistant. All players except for the Coach and the Assistant are chosen in a blind draw conducted by the NNESL League Commissioner.

We will need more coaches at the U-7 level because we will have more teams with smaller rosters.

Amended Team Policy Adopted Beginning with the 2002 season
The IHRC Soccer Program has experienced continuing problems finding and keeping volunteer coaches. Many coaches have expressed extreme frustration due to the fact that teams have either too many or too few players. In order to maintain our coaches, IHRC has resolved that teams in the U-7 shall have 14 players assigned, U-9 and U-11 divisions shall have assigned 16 players and teams at the U-14 age division shall have 18 assigned players.

To effectuate this policy, players will be placed on teams as follows:

  • Players properly registering before the conclusion (12:00 p.m.) of the final day of IHRC sign-ups (only registration forms received by Russ or Adair Kornman, Terri Klug, Tony or Gerri Strauss, or Rachael Rowe prior to 12:00 p.m. on the final day of sign-ups will be deemed timely) shall be placed in a pool, by playing-age division, to determine the number of teams possible at that division.
  • The normal draw will be conducted, using the random, blind system. As always, players with parents who volunteer to coach on the sign-up form will be guaranteed a spot on a team.

Two Examples:

80 players divided by 5 teams = 16 players per team. Thus all players would be placed on a team. If there are 80 proper registrants for U-9 Girls, there will be five U-9 Teams.

If there are 89 proper registrants for U-9 Girls, there still will be only five U-9 Girls teams, each with 16 players.  89 players divided by 5 teams = 5.56, not enough for a 6th team with 16 players.

In this example, the first 80 players randomly drawn would be placed on a team and the remaining 9 players would be put on a waiting list in the order they are drawn (the IHRC “Draw Waiting List”).

Players on a Draw Waiting List shall be placed on teams when and if openings occur taking any of the teams below the 16 player number. (or, in the case of U-14 teams, the 18 player number). Residents new to the Indian Hill School district shall be placed on the waiting list after members of the Draw Waiting List, but before late sign-ups, who shall be placed at the end of the waiting list in the order received.

IHRC understands that this new team placement policy may result in timely registrants not being able to play. However, our inability to obtain and keep volunteer coaches who have become frustrated due to team size, has resulted not only in our inability to provide playing space for everyone who wishes to be on a team, but also a bad experience for many players on teams with too few or too many players.

Practices

Times: Practice times are determined by the availability of our volunteer coaches. Most practices are 6:00-7:30 two nights per week.

Location: Practice fields are usually assigned as follows:

Instructional – Stephan Field
U-7 and U-9 – Livingston Lodge
U-11 and U-14 – Camp Dennison

NOTE: By league rule we may not assign players based on teammate preference, coach preference, or practice time preference. The assignment made at the blind draw prior to the season cannot be altered without a special ruling from the League Commissioner.
