INDIAN HILL RECREATION COMMISSION BASEBALL PROGRAM 2007

The Indian Hill Recreation Commission Baseball Program endorses the purposes and goals of the Indian Hill Recreation Commission.

INDIAN HILL RECREATION COMMISSION PURPOSE AND GOALS:
he purpose of the Indian Hill Recreation Commission is to provide recreational opportunities and athletic programs for residents of the Village of Indian Hill. The goal of the recreational programs is to encourage community spirit and fellowship. The goals of the athletic programs are: to allow all players as equal an opportunity as possible to participate, to instruct players in the development of their capabilities, to build good character and encourage teamwork, to develop and practice good sportsmanship, to implement the prinicples of fair play, to improve physical fitness, and to have fun. Volunteer coaches are selected with the understanding that they will pursue these goals with the highest qualities of leadership and a comprehensive knowledge of the game.

C-level - player must be born on or after 8/1/95
B-level - player must be born on or after 8/1/93
A-level - player must be born on or after 8/1/91

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS:

LEAGUE:
The Indian Hill Baseball Program participates in the Knothole Club of Greater Cincinnati, Inc., and is governed by their rules and regulations.

SELECTION OF COACHES:
All parents are encouraged to participate in some manner. The quality of the baseball program is only as good as the number of parents that help. Whether you are the coach, the assistant coach, a parent who helps during practice, or a parent who co-ordinates the snack/phone tree - your involvement is critical to the success of the baseball program and for quite a number of young people . Parents are requested to volunteer to coach, and those coaches will be able to pre-select one assistant coach.

The major coach/coaches at the B level will be selected by the baseball committee determined by demonstrated instructional capabilities, prior record, and player/parent communicative skills. In some instances, a college student may be needed to coach a team in which parents are unable or unwilling to coach. This will be allowed, providing that a parent accepts the responsibility of overseeing that coach and handles all the paperwork of the team.

SELECTION OF THE TEAMS:
At the D, C, and B levels, teams are broken into two categories - minor and major. The A level is not. At the minor level of each division, a draft will be held with each coach and members of the baseball committee. Each coach may automatically choose his/her child, as well as that of his/her assistant coach. All other names will be subject to the draft, with each coach drawing a number for the order in which they draft. If a coach does not have an assistant, or if his assistant is a student, that coach will automatically begin the first round. Otherwise, the first round will begin in the order drawn. The second round will reverse the order and so on until all players are drafted.

 PLAYING TIME:
The Indian Hill Recreation Commission mandates that every player plays a minimum of two innings in the field and has at least one at bat per game, provided that the game played is a complete game. The coach does have the option of reducing playing due to disciplinary reasons (missed practices, late to games, etc.). This is necessary for the fairness of all players and to keep the team competitive.

UNIFORMS:
Baseball uniforms are distributed to players after the teams have been formed.

BASEBALL COMMITTEE:
The Baseball Committee is made up of the following positions:

  • Chairman
  • Assistant Chairman
  • T-Ball Coordinator

IMPORTANT DATES:
Practice begins - early to mid March Games begin - end of April
Season ends – mid-end June
Tournaments - the major teams have the chance to go on to the city tournament which can last thru July

On behalf of the Baseball Committee, we look forward to your child's participation, and hopefully your participation in the baseball program this year. Remember, this is recreational baseball, for the fun and enjoyment of all youngsters. Please do not hesitate to contact us or if you have questions.

Thank you,
